The rules differ enormously. Some states dismiss the ticket, some only stop the point being added, some reduce points you already have. Each guide is checked against that state's own official source.
Booking a DMV appointment is free in every state. If a site is charging a fee to "secure" or "find" you an appointment, close the tab and go to your state's own .gov site. Reselling appointments is being actively cracked down on.
